rusty sunset

Oh beloved piece of charred earth

You have given this flower

A chance at rebirth

A place to rest against a wash of red

A place called home

To lay her head

Some streaks of granite and serpentine

Woven in layers

Her body entwines

An earthen blanket around her covers

The kiss of the moon

Amongst other lovers

Blessed Venus upon her is bright

The first to be seen

At the break of twilight

Rust bleeds to copper

And copper to clay

As the light seeps from the day

And here she sleeps

In her crevice devine

Proclaiming to the stars

Everything that is,

It is mine.
