“Our parents don’t know it, but they both blessed us…and cursed us.”

As she said this, the wind lifted her hair, and it crested back down like a wave again.

“What do you mean?”

“Well,” she said, as her steel eyes turned west, “They named us for the sea. Now we will be forever bound to it. We are destined to live with it…”

“Or to die.”

“Yes,” she said, now staring forward, “without it we will surely die.”
